Open Casting Call for PBS’s New Series ‘Mercy Street’

Producers are holding an open casting call for PBS’s upcoming new series Mercy Street. They are ramping up production to meet the demands of the show.

The historical wartime medical drama follows the true story of two volunteer nurses Mary Phinney and Emma Green, who serve on opposing sides of the civil war. Mary, a New England abolitionist, and Emma, a young Confederate belle, run across at Mansion House that has been converted into Union Army Hospital. The series explores the women’s role and their conflicting beliefs and loyalty in the midst of war.

The six-episode series will be produced by Ridley Scott, the name behind the box-office hit Gladiator, and will be written by David Zabel (ER). Mercy Street will be filmed in Virginia.

• Casting directors are seeking for ten Caucasian guys aged between 20 and 40, ideally without tattoos and are scruffy-looking, who are available from April 24 through May 15.
• You should be able to lift a stretcher, and your height should be around 5’9? to 6’1?.
• Shooting will be in Richmond, Virginia, so you must be a local of the place to qualify for the role.
• Take note that they will be using talents who are members of SAG-AFTRA.
• However, if you are a non-union talent, you can still apply for the role; just let the casting directors know.
• Deadline for submission is on April 23, 2015
